January 29, 2020 – Highlights of the Weekly Club Meeting

The meeting on January 29, 2020 was a Club Assembly meeting, with committees updating Rotarians on current and upcoming events. Here is a quick summary:

Club Centennial Update – The Centennial Committee is finalizing the plans for the kickoff event scheduled for SAT May 16, 2020. Event will be in the evening at the Carbondale Civic Center. The committee is finalizing event details such as menu and drink, invitations, and event program. Thank you to the Committee for its continued work.

Public Relations Committee – updates to our website, FACEBOOK, AND Instagram are complete!!

Programming Committee – Plenty of exciting speakers in the next few weeks, STAY TUNED!

Foundation (RI and Local) Committees– Both are doing well. Donations to our local Foundation are tax deductible!!

Youth Services Committee – Scholarships and bike helmets will again be projects in our near future. Thank you for your giving to make these events possible.

Special projects Committee – As the current district grant project winds down, our next project is coming into focus. We could do a project associated with the Centennial, a project associated with a local outreach group, or, in the effort or spreading Rotary back in Murphysboro, we could do a project there. If you have ideas for a District level project, please send them to me by the end of March.

International Services Committee – Due to the unrest in Haiti, projects in the area are on hold. The Committee is continuing to look for projects to assist friends in need in other parts of the world.

Club Administration and Membership Committees – Finances are good; with is fueled by growing membership. New members and a growing club are signs we are moving together in the right direction.

Community services Committee – All is good. Adopt a Spot clean-up for Spring 2020 may happen around March, weather permitting.
